Civil society organisation leading
the fight against corruption

About us

Transparency International - Czech Republic (TIC) is a non-governmental organization, whose objective is to monitor the state of corruption in the Czech Republic and contribute to its systemic reduction. TIC is one of more than 90 chapters of Transparency International (TI).

TI’s mission is to create change towards a world free of corruption. TI and its chapters fight corruption in a number of ways. They bring together relevant players from government, civil society, business and the media to promote transparency in elections, in public administration, in procurement and in business. TI’s global network of chapters and contacts also use advocacy campaigns to lobby governments to implement anti-corruption reforms. For detailed information on history and activities of TI, its international and local projects and publications see

Since its founding in 1998, TIC has been gradually moving from analyses, studies and awakening the public awareness in the Czech Republic to outlining new concepts for public administration, legal solutions of particular cases and training of the public officials. Our organisation is recognized among both general and expert public, it has solid know-how and erudite staff, and belongs among the most powerful NGOs in the country.

Our project activities concern a number of areas. Some topics, e.g. public procurement, issues concerning conflicts of interest or non-transparent public finance management, have been in the centre of our attention for many years and will remain among our key topics also in the future. To learn more about our current activities, see Projects.

Education and training courses represent one of major tools for dissemination of anti-corruption know-how in the country. TIC’s training activities are focused mainly on public administration bodies on national, regional and local levels. At the moment TIC offers three ready-made training courses – for details see Training courses.

Since December 2005, our Legal Advice Centre (ALAC) has been helping citizens who experience corruption behaviour from representatives of public or private sector, providing them with free-of-charge legal advice. Learn more about the ALAC activities here.

TIC projects and activities are financed mainly from the funds obtained from grant programmes of local and foreign, private and government donors. Additional funding comes from contributions from individuals and private entities as well as from our training and educational activities.
